Boo’s Baptism – you’re invited!

Mummy and Boo are pleased to announce the baptism of Boo on Sunday 11th November.

It’s something that we’ve intended to do since before she was born but wanted to make sure that the timing was right, something that is not often the case in family life.

We’re delighted that my school parish of Sacred Heart in Wimbledon are happy to baptize Boo even though we live in Lincoln. The location was the biggest challenge for us as our friends and family are scattered all over the country, so in the end we decided what better place than where we truly call home.

We’ve been busy working on all the small details that will help to make Boo’s day special, yet have known from the start that it there was no way everyone we wanted to be there would be able to make it.

So we’ve decided to make Boo’s baptism a social affair. From a hashtag on twitter #BoosBaptism to sneak peeks on here and our Facebook page.

However even for a social media savvy individual like myself event coverage can be a minefield, there’s a fine line between inclusive and intrusive. I sought out my dear friend Celia Lacy, director of Bride Electric for the lowdown on social media events:

Social media provides a perfect array of tools and spaces for people to exchange conversation, photos, video and live media within an event scene. It’s incredibly easy – with connectivity – to bring people together online and in person via the use of invitations, messaging services and on the day, an event hashtag and live timeline. There are so many wonderful ways to now capture and document the detail of events, allowing friends and family to cherish both physical and digital memories for years to come.

I also wanted to share our experiences as we source suppliers for Boo’s Baptism, from the gown, the invitations and endless small details which on their own are insignificant but together help to tie the day together. What I’ve found is that aside from wedding planning there is often not much in the way of little touches suitable for other occasions. I’ll keep you updated with what I find.
