So I think I’ve found my perfect pair of jeans thanks to M&S’s Best Ever Fit brand new denim range – here’s how I fell in love with the Ivy Skinny…
Spring has sprung finally and with the glorious brighter mornings (waking up to sunlight is everything!!) comes a new wardrobe. Winter has me reaching for skirts and dresses – think layers – but with the warmer weather, my go-to fashion is denim, in particular jeans. Yet I’ll be completely honest and say that I’d fallen out of love with jeans. It seemed impossible to find a pair, that I both liked and were comfortable without having to conform to the latest fashion rules. That may have been my thing ten years ago but now I’m a mother and in my thirties I want fashion and in particular a pair of jeans that fits in with me, not the other way around.
M&S has launched a new collection of jeans with the Best Ever Fit. Super soft, figure-flattering denim with a no-gape waist – Hallelujah – in a choice of authentic washes and three different fits. I headed into my local store to discover my best ever fit; there are three new styles, the Ivy Skinny, the Lily Slim and the Sienna Straight. I decided to try each style on regardless of what I ‘thought’ would suit me and it was the Ivy Skinny in Indigo that won it for me. I was blown away that all thee styles live up to their no-gape waist promise, each style fits well and was consistent in sizing.
Because it’s M&S I knew that they weren’t going to cost the earth but I was still surprised when I discovered they were less than £20 – yep that’s not a typo they are £19.50 which makes me love them even more.
When styling my jeans I went for this oversized animal print shirt – because just like my Ivy jeans, its set to be a hard working versatile piece in my wardrobe. And when it comes to footwear, it was a no brainer that I’d choose trainers; these leather lace-up trainers are a perfect example of how M&S don’t do dupes but instead offer their own take on hot fashion pieces.
Whilst it may sound fickle, falling back in love with denim has been wonderful – jeans are so much more than versatile, they’re the international language of fashion. From jeans and a cashmere jumper for that ultra-relaxed luxe look to ‘jeans and a nice top’ (if you’re above 30 then you’ll know) for a night out – having a pair that I can grab and go with when it comes to style and fit is everything.
After some very scientific (ahem) research: dodging Boo’s water flicks while supervising her shower, attempting to do a 7-minute walk to school for pick up in 4 minutes, laying on the sofa and indulging in my latest Netflix binge I can hand on denim-clad-bum say that the M&S Ivy Skinny jean truly is the best fit ever… not because I fit into them but because they fit me and my life.
